Okay, listen.

A Moby Wrap is a specific brand of wrap that is stretchy and somewhat mainstreamish.

A wrap is a piece of cloth that can be stretchy or not, and that is somewhat less mainstreamish than the Moby.

If you make it yourself, it can't be a Moby Wrap. It's just a wrap. A normal, every, NON-BRAND NAME wrap.

Sheesh.

I won't deny that this one is a particularly bizarre and redundant instance of genericization... but what you're saying is essentially the same thing that Xerox®, STYROFOAM®™, Band-Aid®, Sellotape®, Q-Tips® and Popsicle® argued.

But man, it's irritating, especially as, right now, it's not a generic. So people trying to find information on "moby wraps" may conclude there is only one option.

I've seen that come up before in previous rants against 'genericide' of brand names, especially where medications are involved. It's not enough to dissuade everyone, but I do think it's one of the stronger arguments against the trend.

(Meanwhile, I'm privately boggling a little over Dow Chemical Company's redundant use of trademarks and inexplicable ALLCAPS. I have absolutely no idea what was fueling that decision.)
