conulyI have a few thoughts about this:
1. When they gave her name on the news, I seriously thought she was the missing Duggar kid, the on they don't talk about. I'm not the only on, right?
2. Snark aside, this is an unmitigated good thing for that woman (can't call her a girl, really) and her family. I hope she and her kids can adjust, though - might be hard.
3. However, I'm concerned because I hear people posting the details of the original abduction in shock, and you know it's making them think that the world today is more dangerous than it was before this woman was found to be alive and well (physically, anyway), despite the fact that the abduction (a statistically rare event!) happened 18 years ago.
4. I also worry that other people whose missing children haven't been found may have their hopes gotten up, or have other people encouraging them to get their hopes up, because of this case. It's wonderful for these specific people, but if your child is "missing, believed dead" then the reality is that you're unlikely to find them alive at any point. Not a happy fact. But what do I know, I'm not in that situation - maybe it's better to keep hoping even if nothing comes of it. I'm certainly not going to go around to families with missing kids trying to break their hearts.
